Counter-Strike: Source
dmZ picks up zOo
Today the German eSports team Germany diamondZ (dmZ) announced its reventure into the Counter-Strike: Source scene. DiamondZ picked up a CS:S team in March but the story didn't last very long as the lineup already disbanded in May.

Today dmZ will put faith in CS:S once again by picking up Finland zOo. The Finnish team has been in Cadred's European top10 for months and has beaten top teams such as Reason gaming and H2k. The team will attend TEX as the first LAN event under their new tag.

Quote:
Norway Ole-Christian 'gem' Slaattene:
Today I'm pleased to announce that team zOo is officialy a part of the german organisation diamondZ e.V.. For some time we've been going back and forth considering our options, but we came to the conclusion that this was the best choice for us. With a new home in place we can also reveal that we'll be attending the-eXperience in Roskilde, Denmark - a tournament we are looking forward to with big hopes!

The new dmZ.CSS lineup is:

Finland Ollimatti 'delonge' Vehkalahti
Finland Juho 'zaikovski' Sunnari
Norway Ole-Christian 'gem' Slaattene
Finland Sami 'SAMITSKY' Kuivala
Finland Olli 'kononen' Salmi

Good luck to the team. Source: Cadred.

Battlefield 1943
Battlefield 1943 XBOX360 out on 9th July
DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio, today announced that Battlefield 1943™ will be available on July 8th on Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace and July 9th on the PlayStation®Network. Battlefield 1943 is an all-new download-only action game that brings DICE’s first-class vehicular warfare to gamers for just £9.99, or 1200 MS Points.

Battlefield 1943 is a critically acclaimed First-Person Shooter (FPS) multiplayer game that puts players in the middle of a dogfight on land, sea or in the skies. The game introduces two thrilling new modes that can be played across four classic Battlefield tropical WWII maps: Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Coral Sea. These maps are inspired by the award winning Battlefield 1942™ game, but have been redesigned and reengineered using the DICE destructible Frostbite™ engine which takes down walls, blockades and cover spots, leaving players with almost nowhere to hide. The game delivers endless hours of social online gameplay for extraordinary value.

The Coral Sea map will be unlocked as part of a worldwide community challenge, where players will work together to reach 43million kills on both Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network. To help gamers reach that goal, up to 24 players can play together online in countless matches. They will have the freedom to compete by land, air and sea as either the US Marines or the Imperial Japanese Navy. Whether they choose to play the role of a rifleman crawling through the trenches, a steel-fisted tank commander, or a dog fighting ace pilot, gamers will have the power to rule the battlefield.

Quote:
“Battlefield 1943 is going to change consumer expectations of what a downloadable game can be. By offering Frostbite’s next generation destruction technology with a full Vehicle Warfare FPS multiplayer experience at a mere 560MB, Battlefield 1943 sets a new standard,” said Gordon Van Dyke, Producer on Battlefield 1943. “Our goal is to blow people away with a fully accessible, retail-calibre game for veteran Battlefield fans and shooter fans alike to enjoy for only £9.99.”

Multiplay
M Festival Street Fighter IV elevated to prize tournament
Multiplay have announced that their Street Fighter IV (XBox 360) tournament has been elevated from a fun tournament to a Prize winning tournament! This will make i37 the first prize money winning tournament for one of the biggest fighting games of this year.

The tournament will take place on Saturday 8th August in the M Festival hall. Both participants of i37 and M Festival visitors will be able to take part in the tournament which will be held in the "turn up and play" area of the hall. This means all you have to bring is yourself, then signup for the tournament and use our machines to take part! Alongside this tournament in the same area will be the WCG Virtua Fighter 5 tournament, competitors will be able to enter both so not only will you be able to win yourself some money - you could also win a trip to China to represent the UK in Virtua Fighter 5 at the World Cyber Games final in Chengdu.

An initial £200 will be awarded to the winner of Street Fighter IV, with £100 going to the runner up, a Further £50 will be given to the 3rd placed competitor. These prize funds are not yet cast in stone but are guaranteed. Multiplay will substantially increase this figure if signups prove popular! To give you an idea of the increases Multiplay are looking at making the total prize fund increasing to £500 should we get 64 signups, £1000 should we hit 128+ signups. So make sure you get all your friends involved!

To signup for this tournament you will need an M Festival day pass which you can book via the M Festival website. Normally we would require customers to have a full weekend pass to enter tournaments but as this is our first event support Street Fighter in a Prize funded capacity we have reduced this to just a day pass. Make sure you dont miss out on what could be the fighting game tournament of the year!

Signups will open tomorrow (Friday 3rd July 2009) via the i-Series website.
